Our materials

We use Italian recycled fabrics made of ECONYL® yarn, a 100 % regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post industrial waste, such as discarded fishing nets, carpet fluff, tulle, etc. The garments are also made with recycled polyester and elastane.

All such materials, once they have reached the end of their useful life, instead of being disposed of in the landfill, are recovered and regenerated to be reused again. That means we can create new products without having to use new resources.

Leftover fabrics from the manufacturing process are either reused for scrunchies or donated to schools of fashion, NGOs and other social and educational centers in Spain.

All of our products are vegan.

Our manufacturer

Samudra Swimwear is proud to be manufacturing all products locally to reduce our emissions for shipping and transporting raw materials.

Our pieces have been made in Portugal by a conscious manufacturer. The relationship with our manufacturer is always close and we make sure they comply with the highest standards of workplace ethics and environmental responsibility. Learn more about our code of conduct here.

Our suppliers are all in Europe, from the fabrics to the last tag. We work with a fabric manufacturer that has strong environmental policies. They use only electricity from renewable sources and reuse water for all steps of the fabric production. At the end, water is sent to the municipal waste water treatment plant before releasing it completely clean. Their emmisions are also 10 % bellow the limit set by the law and 99% of their wastes are recycled and re-used.

Our packaging

We take care of every detail in the process and that of course includes the packaging we use. The materials we use are either recycled or recyclable and we avoid using plastics as much as we can.

Mailers

Our mailers are compostable and have "OK Compost" certification.

Boxes

Made of recycled cardboard and 100 % recyclable. Our supplier plants 1 tree with every order we make to help against reforestation.

Our next goals

Use only recycled nylon

We want to stop using polyester in our garments and start using only ECONYL® nylon. This is a higher quality material for swimwear, it is more elastic, and hugs your body and your curves softly as it gives you the perfect support (something we love about it!).

This has been achieved in 2022.

Switch to digital printing

Digital printing is a process that, compared to traditional wet printing, reduces water use (since it requires less wash and rinse cycles) and fabric waste (since we can adjust a print to fit a garment). There are also no screens or colorant baths that need cleaning. This will be achieved in our next printed garments.

Eco-friendly hygienic liners

Most of the options available for this product are made of plastic and there are little sustainable options which are significantly more expensive and less efficient to protect you.

As we grow, we will make sure to find an environmentally friendly option for this.
