FOR SAVING THE ARTIC

Code "SAVETHEARTIC"

The Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world. Seasonal sea ice, habitat for so many Arctic animals, is in rapid decline. Some scientists predict that it could be completely gone by 2037. The Arctic also faces the threat of offshore oil drilling.

"Ocean Conservancy" has been active in the fight against risky offshore oil drilling in the Arctic Ocean, the regulation of shipping throughout the area and working with the Arctic Council to address the need for international protections.

FOR CLEANING THE OCEANS

Code "CLEANOCEANS"

Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter the oceans primarily from rivers. Plastic pollution in the world's oceans is one of the biggest environmental issues of our time, impacting more than 600 marine species and our health.

"The Ocean Cleanup" is a non-profit organization that is designing and developing systems to clean up our oceans and to intercept plastic on its way to the ocean via rivers. The cleanup with source reduction could lead towards a plastic-free ocean by 2050.

FOR PLANTING TREES

Code "PLANTATREE"

About 3.9 million square miles (10 million square km) of forest have been lost since the beginning of the 20th century. There are five main factors responsible for deforestation at the moment: beef, soy, palm oil, wood products and bush fires.
"Tree Nation" helps plant more trees and fight against deforestation and global warming. According to United Nations, deforestation is the second-leading cause of climate change. Planting more trees is a good solution for this.

FOR PROTECTING MARINE LIFE

Code "MARINELIFE"

According to a study published in Science, only less than 4 % of the oceans remain unaffected by human activity. Overfishing and destructive fishing practices, pollution and plastics are threatening marine life and there is need to take action.

"Oceana"  is the largest international advocacy organization focused solely on ocean conservation and protection of marine life. Our offices around the world work together to  help make our oceans more bio diverse and abundant.
